Jonathan, I agree entirely. I thought it was just me! Adding further streams for communication with friends or acquaintances makes managing said communication so much more complex. Maybe folk should just pick up the phone a little more? At least that way you get to control who with and when you interact with people and maintain some modicum of privacy.

Thanks for the comment… hard to see where it’s going, but I suppose that’s part of the master plan for now. I guess I’ll just have to stay connected with it as it grows – just like everyone else. It’s definitely something to watch.

The worst problem with the internet today is the internet abuse. It started from a few idiots but wordpress in unbeatable. I got a racist comment on my blogs, I sent the IP of the user to the police and I banned him/her.... You have the upper hand. It's lovely

There's only two ways for Nokia to move this forward. 1) Add the jabber connectors to the other IM services at their jabber server. 2) Allow users to connect to other jabber servers. As you said, it would be strange for Nokia to do this. Thinking about it though, doesnt Gmail already connect to AIM? Maybe we can already specifiy AIM users. I'm not sure I am following what you are trying to do exactly ... I can add Gizmo contacts to Nokia chat just like gtalk. You just add a friend with nick@chat.gizmoproject.com and they can chat through gizmo IM to nokia chat. This works on the desktop as well.

Just tried a few times to connect to the public gizmo servers. Unfortunately it didnt work. Even over home broadband. I suspect that the Nokia client isnt true jabber which is a real shame.

@jason - try adding / integrating on the desktop. Should sync over in theory. @steve we have an open but hidden AP at the office for guests and non-issued devices and it works for me. I wonder why it does not work on your cheap 3G service SIM either ... bummer! Also had no idea that Gizmo was using a jabber relay for the other services. That's very cool.

Its well integrates in to the system and easy to use. I have to agree. My only problem with it is that it doesn't include any way to work over port 80 (http) which is required if you're behind corporate firewalls (using wifi) or behind a cheap 3G service (like my 10 Euro flat - http-only service!) It also needs integration with other services (although the answer here is to connect to Gizmo's jabber relay) In my opion, Nokia chat doesn't reach the functionality and features of Gizmo at this stage. Steve.

I noticed a few people have asked about selecting and playing multiple songs. I have just used the shift key to select an album (select the first tune and hold down the shift key and select the last one) from the list available. This then plays the whole album without having to select individual songs. This also works using the control key for just selecting songs not beside each other in the list. I hope this helps. A very big Thank You to all the people who have posted here, I would never have been able to get this to work without all the advice above.
